The industrialization started in England during the second half of the 18th century. Later, the industrial revolution spread gradually throughout other countries in Europe and North America. By the middle of the 20th century, Asia and Latin America had become the most recently industrialized countries.
The most important inventions were: the steam engine, invented in 1712 by Thomas Newcomen, the spinning machines and the mechanical weaving loom. The invention of the steam locomotive and the first public railways were of great importance, as well.
